Charles Norton, PhD

Charles Norton, PhD, is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Modern Foreign Languages. He earned a PhD in Aesthetics from Paris Nanterre University in December 2020, and is preparing monographs in French and English based on his research in education and social engagement in global Hip Hop cultures. Prior to joining Morehouse College, Charles was a full-time faculty at the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and the University of Paris. He has also held temporary positions at the University of Rwanda, the American Language Center in Morocco, Pima County Community College, and Off the Beaten Track anthropology field school in Malta. Beyond academia, he has served in the US Peace Corps three times (Cameroon, Haiti, and Rwanda) and has worked as a consultant with Microsoft India, AXA Banque in France, the Platform of Human Rights Organizations of Malta, and the Seattle Sounders Football Club.
