Denise Callejas, Ph.D.

Faculty Fellow in International Education

Denise Callejas is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Portuguese and Academic Program Director for Modern Foreign Languages. She holds a B.A. in International Studies and Political Science from Florida State University and a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese from Vanderbilt University. This is her fourth year at Morehouse, during which time she has taken students to Salvador da Bahia, Brazil through the Morehouse Pan African Global Experience (MPAGE II) program and renewed the Portuguese language offerings at the college. Last year, she was chosen to participate in an International Faculty Development Seminar in the Dominican Republic sponsored by CIEE and the Office of International Education with a special focus on facilitating educational programs abroad for minority serving institutions. She has also been active with the Atlanta Global Studies Center and the Latin American Association. As an AYCGL fellow, she aims to expand these efforts and to support and highlight any faculty endeavors to internationalize the curriculum of the college.
