Studying Abroad Has Changed My Life

Studying abroad has changed my life. One way is that it broadened my entire perspective on life. It has allowed me to see and realize that there is more in the world than just where I come from. I’ve been able to meet so many different people from all across the world. It even has forced me to step outside of my comfort zone, by learning different cultures and ways of living. Since being abroad I’ve discovered so much about myself, including things that I probably would never have discovered if I had not studied abroad. Every experience helped to shape me into the person I am today.

Studying here in London has been nothing short of amazing, but it has also been quite challenging as the educational system focuses heavily on writing, however, I managed to get through it and successfully complete the term. Another thing that I liked about studying here in London is that it provided me with the opportunity to go on different field trips in the area to enhance the educational experience and connect it with the relevant topics we discussed in class. Overall, immersing myself in this new environment took some time but it was all a part of the experience. As time went by things got easier and easier for me because I learned to embrace the change and was willing to learn all that I could.

When I first got to London it was such a big culture shock, as everything here was different, including the food, people, and just the way of life here. Since London is a big city most people don’t drive, instead they take public transportation. I remember on my first day of class I was so worried that I was going to be late to class because of having to take public transportation and figure out how I was going to get there. I can now say that I can take public transportation here in London with no problem and know exactly where I am going. It took some time, but it was all a learning process and I enjoyed learning how to get around here in London.

There were a number of challenges to studying abroad, but, ultimately, I found out that I am stronger than I ever thought I was. Through each challenge I remained resilient and did what I needed to do to get through and embrace the change. One of the Five Wells that Morehouse stands on is Well Traveled. This experience has allowed me to see the world, and I was able to travel to 5 other countries in Europe. I went to Portugal, Italy, France, Greece, and the Netherlands. Each of the different countries taught me something different that will forever influence the way I see the world and how I live.

Studying abroad has been so life-changing for me, and I will forever be grateful for this opportunity. I can say that I have grown so much as a person. My life will never be the same, and it has changed for the better.
