Society for Community Research and Action (SCRA) Biennial Conference

The Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership hosted the 19th Biennial Conference for the American Psychological Association’s Division 27, Society for Community Research and Action (SCRA) on June 20th-June 24th 2023, on the campus of Morehouse College. The theme for this year’s conference was “Where do we go from here: Dreaming New Community Futures.” The conference theme was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King’s last book and the concept of Afrofuturism, which explores Black liberation through creative works and activism.

Over six hundred attendees from across the country and the globe participated in the hybrid conference. The conference attendees included community members, activists, undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, practitioners, and AUC alumni. This was the first time the conference was held at a historically Black college. We would like to thank all who attended the conference, the local planning committee, and all of our sponsors including our Champion Sponsor, Michigan State University’s Office of Outreach and Engagement.
