This spring, the Oprah Winfrey Scholars Program will host a fundraiser to support an organization serving survivors of sexual assault. The AUC-wide event, “AUC Charity Run”, will be held in collaboration with other Morehouse and AUC student organizations and will be designed to educate and inspire the AUC community. The College Charity Run across the AUC has historically served as a time to mobilize students and community stakeholders, thereby raising awareness and resources for issues relevant to both the AUC and the broader Black community. This year's event maintains this tradition with a focused commitment to sexual assault awareness. Research indicates that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience sexual assault and violence over their lifetime, yet the lack of resources, barriers, and stigma prevents survivors from seeking support. Consequently, the College Charity Run has partnered with the Alma Domestic Violence Foundation, an organization based in Atlanta dedicated to serving survivors of domestic violence. The College Charity Run intends to raise money for the Alma Domestic Violence Foundation to support the foundation, promote education and prevention efforts, and support sexual assault survivors. Join us on April 25 for an inspiring day of unity, community, and impact at this year's charity run!
