Oprah Winfrey Scholars Program

The Oprah Winfrey Scholars Program (OWSP) provides financial support, leadership development experiences, and service opportunities for students with demonstrated financial need, strong academic potential, and interest in and commitment to community service. The program develops community and global leaders through leadership development and service experiences during the academic year and provides an opportunity to study abroad and engage in international service through the South Africa Leadership Program during the summer. Dr. Jann Adams is the director of the OWSP and Ms. Marissa Baham (marissa.baham@morehouse.edu) is the program’s coordinator. Applications are accepted to the program each March.

SMASH Scholars Program

Founded in fall 2020, the Morehouse College SMASH Scholars Program is a 4-year scholarship program for alumni of the summer SMASH Academy for high school students. Founded in 2004 by Freada Kapor Klein, SMASH is a three-year STEM-intensive residential college prep program for underrepresented students of color, designed to empower students to deepen their talents and pursue STEM careers. The Morehouse SMASH Scholars Program provides financial support, social justice leadership development experiences, and academic advising to support pursuit of STEM and other careers. Dr. Jann Adams is the director, Dr. Wallace Sharif is the faculty lead, and Ms. Marissa Baham (marissa.baham@morehouse.edu) is the coordinator of the SMASH Scholars Program.
